Meta debuts new Instagram feature that allows users to rearrange posts on profile grid
Instagram users can now curate their profiles by moving grid posts around.
A new Instagram feature has arrived.
Meta announced Monday, June 8, that users will now be allowed to rearrange posts on their profile grid for the first time.
Previously, grid posts appeared chronologically on a user's profile page. With the new Grid Reordering feature, Instagram is giving users more creative control and flexibility over how their profiles appear.
Meta said in a press release that users may find this feature useful when "highlighting a new era, resurfacing older content, refreshing your aesthetic or showcasing key projects/work."
"Grid Reordering makes it easier to shape your profile around what feels most relevant to you right now," Meta added.
How does it work?
Users can access the feature by long-pressing a post from their profile, tapping "reorder grid," and then dragging posts into the order they prefer, according to Meta.
Any pinned posts and Reels will remain fixed at the top of the grid, the company said.
Why this update is a game-changer
The new feature will allow users and content creators to showcase posts that best represent their niche, current goals, "creative identity" and more, Meta said in its press release.
Users will be able to "group together content series, multi-part stories, tutorials, transformations, or 'Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3' posts so audiences can more easily follow your narrative," according to Meta.
Older posts can now also get a "second life" when content is resurfaced, allowing new followers to see what they missed or giving them "new context/meaning," Meta stated.
