Mary Tyler Moore fans are going wild for this iconic Frances Valentine collection
Frances Valentine's collection is inspired by one of TV's most beloved icons.
Mary Tyler Moore is an icon for the ages.
From being the first woman to wear close-fitting pants on television to her role as associate producer Mary Richards on her eponymous show that inspired generations of women in media (see ABC's own Deborah Roberts discuss her love for the actress here), Moore's tenacity, grace, and ebullience left a lasting mark that fans the world over still love today.
Frances Valentine, the brainchild of Elyce Arons and her late best friend, Kate Spade, is a clothing line that carries a similar spirit and penchant for retro-inspired glamour that feels like a breath of fresh air in today's sartorial landscape. Thus, when "GMA" first learned of a collaboration in the works with Moore's estate last year, we impatiently waited for its debut.
Launched late last month, the wait was worthwhile. During a recent visit to the brand's Bryant Park showroom, the energy was effervescent as Arons and her team walked us through the latest offering from the brand -- including the smash collab.
Rich with colorful striped tops, a knockout sequin dress that's already sold out, mod shifts, and rich tweed coats and skirts, the collection is the epitome of late 1960s and early 1970s chic, a real love letter to Moore's signature style and the energy of the era.
Standout pieces like the MTM Loafer and the Mary Jean are effortless ways to dress up a daily look, effortlessly blending comfort and intentional style with timeless appeal. Another favorite is the MTM Hat based on Moore's iconic tam from the "Mary Tyler Moore Show" intro, and Arons relayed a story of seeing women at the line's launch toss them into the air to honor the late actress -- "an emotional moment," she explained.
Beyond offering the exceptional quality and design shoppers might already expect from Frances Valentine, this line aims to give back by donating 20% of net sales to support the Mary Tyler Moore Vision Initiative's fight to end diabetic retinal disease, an ailment that caused near-total blindness in Moore in her later years.
Below, we've curated a selection of some of our favorite pieces across a range of prices that offer the chance for you to own a piece of this limited collection for yourself or to pick up as a thoughtful gift for your own Mary Tyler Moore fan in your life. According to the brand, the $58 totes and $98 hats are selling fast, while several other picks throughout the line have already been swooped up by stylish fans.
