Iran 'better get moving, FAST' and make a peace deal, Trump says

"[T]here won’t be anything left of them" if Iran doesn't, the president said.

President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting military, government and infrastructure sites.

Following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire, initial U.S.-Iran talks in Pakistan in April failed to reach a peace deal.

Trump later announced the open-ended extension of the ceasefire and the continuation of a U.S. blockade until negotiations are concluded "one way or the other."

Trump says that Xi 'would love' to help the US on Iran

President Donald Trump said that Chinese President Xi Jinping wants to see a deal on Iran and "would love" to help the U.S., Trump told Fox News in an interview in China.

"President Xi would like to see a deal made. He would like to see a deal made. And he did offer, he said, if I can be of any help at all I would like to be of help," Trump told Fox News.

"He’d like to see the Hormuz Strait open. He said if I can be of any help whatsoever I would like to help," Trump said.

Trump said Jinping told him China will not give Iran military equipment.

"But at the same time he said they buy a lot of their oil there and they’d like to keep doing that," Trump said.

IDF launches new strikes in south Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces said Thursday morning that it launched a new wave of strikes on alleged Hezbollah targets in "several areas" of southern Lebanon.

Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health said on Wednesday that at least 2,896 people have been killed and 8,824 people wounded by Israeli strikes on the country since March 2.

Israeli attacks on Lebanon -- targeting alleged Hezbollah operatives and sites -- have continued despite a ceasefire agreement reached between Israeli and Lebanese leaders last month.

Hezbollah claimed fresh attacks on Israeli troops operating in southern Lebanon in statements issued through Wednesday and into Thursday.
