Nude Awakening for Shoplifters in Austria

V I E N N A, Austria, Feb. 27, 2001 -- An Austrian supermarket worker has been letting female shoplifters off scot-free if they pose naked for photographs, police said today.

The 37-year-old is also accused of extorting 1,000schillings ($66) from each woman in compensation for stolengoods and administrative costs, which he then failed to pass on to the supermarket, Vienna police said in a statement.

The man was arrested after police found numerous nudephotographs during a search of his office.
