Alaska 2026 live midterm election results
The state has become a battleground for control of Congress.
The Alaska Senate race could determine control of Congress, with Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan fighting for reelection against former Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola.
Both President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance traveled to Alaska recently to campaign for Sullivan, an unprecedented move from the White House.
Peltola is fighting to win in a state that last elected a Democrat to the Senate in 2008.
The Senate race received additional attention in the week leading up to the election after a New York Times report that Peltola's campaign and senior aides at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee played a role in recruiting Dan J. Sullivan -- a Republican who almost has the same name as incumbent Sen. Sullivan -- as part of an effort to sow confusion and ultimately benefit Peltola's campaign. Peltola denied that she knew about such an effort.
In the state's gubernatorial race, Democrat Jonathon Kreiss-Tomkins is facing off against Republican Bernadette Wilson. Alaskans last elected a Democratic governor in 1998.
The election will use ranked-choice voting, however, Alaskans will also vote on the future of this voting method through a ballot measure.
