Virginia 2026 live primary election results

Voters in Virginia are set to cast ballots for the primary elections in several House and Senate races on Tuesday.

Virginia does not hold a primary if only one candidate or no candidate qualifies for the ballot, meaning only three House districts in the state will be holding primaries and that incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Warner -- the only Democratic candidate running -- will not have a primary.

Several Republicans will look to run against Warner in the general election, with business leader Kim Farnington, retired Maj. Gen. Bert Mizusawa and Lt. Col. David Williams, who is in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, in the Republican Senate primary.

In Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, Republicans retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Douglas Ollivant, businessman Philip Harding and construction business owner Rick Smithers will appear on the ballot and whoever wins the primary will go on to challenge Democratic incumbent Rep. Eugene Vindman in November.

In Virginia’s 8th Congressional District, several Democrats will look to defeat longtime Rep. Don Beyer.

Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, one of the most competitive House races this cycle, won't have a primary -- with candidates already locked in. Incumbent GOP Rep. Jen Kiggans will face a rematch with former Democratic Rep. Elaine Luria, who held the same seat from 2019 to 2023.
