TechBytes: iPad Sales Soar
Review of iPhone OS, Samsung 3-D TV warning, Tweets archived.
April 15, 2010 -- Apple says that its new iPad is a runaway success. Because the company can't keep up with the demand, it has delayed an international release for the second time. Overseas buyers can start placing orders May 10. Apple says it sold half a million iPad's in the week after its U.S. debut April 3.
Review: New iPhone OS
Apple is also previewing an upgrade to its iPhone operating system due out this summer. Version 4.0 will deliver a number of features that users have requested.
"There's going to be multi-tasking where you'll be able to multi-task at least seven applications at the same time," said Nick Bilton of the New York Times. "So you can imagine a scenario where you're listening to Pandora radio and you can go surf the Web.
"Another feature that they announced is unified mailboxes. So if you have a Gmail account and a Hotmail account and Yahoo account you'll actually be able to go into one folder and see everything at the same time."
The same new features, including multi-tasking, will be available for the iPad this fall.
Samsung 3-D TV Warning
Could 3-D TV be hazardous to your health? Samsung says maybe so. The set-maker wrote on its Australian Web site that some viewers might experience seizures or dizziness. Children, teens, the elderly and anyone with a family history of epilepsy could be at risk. Also, pregnant women, the sleep-deprived and viewers under the influence of alcohol are told to switch off the 3-D mode if they experience symptoms.

Twitter is already history. The Library of Congress and the micro-blogging site Twitter have announced a partnership. Twitter is donating its archives all the way back to the very first tweet, sent in March 2006. The Library of Congress believes the messages will give researchers a new way of understanding significant events. But they will have to sift through a lot of them. Fifty-five million tweets are sent every day.
