Crime Blotter: 'Naked Photographer' Caught

— -- A Kansas man gets a painful lesson in kissing and making up; the "naked photographer" mystery appears solved; and a fugitive parking ticket violator is pulled over. It's all in this week's edition of the Crime Blotter.

A Painful Slip of the Tongue

W I C H I T A, Kan. — So much for kissing and making up.

A 21-year-old Wichita, Kan., woman faces aggravated battery charges for biting off a chunk of her boyfriend's tongue when he tried to kiss her after an argument.

According to police, Crissy Smith and her boyfriend, Randy Eggers, 23, had been arguing Dec. 1 and after the tension between them seemed to subside, Eggers attempted to put their quarrel behind them with a kiss.

But Eggers soon found that the kiss was only the beginning of round two in their battle.

"Around 9 p.m. last night, Wichita police responded to a report of domestic violence-related assault," Wichita Police Department. spokeswoman Janet Johnson told ABCNEWS affiliate KAKE in Wichita. "Apparently, the two Wichita residents … were arguing. … There was some pushing and shoving. At some point, according to witnesses, the male attempted to make up and tried to kiss the female, at which point she did bite off a portion of his tongue."

Police found the piece of the severed tongue on the floor of his apartment hallway. Eggers' tongue was then surgically reattached at the hospital.

Despite his injuries, Eggers also faces a simple battery charge for allegedly scratching and biting Smith during their fracas.

‘Naked Photographer’ Caught in the Buff

C O L U M B U S, Ohio — Ohio police believe they finally have solved the case of the "naked photographer."

Since April 2002, police have been baffled by 39 reports of women being ambushed by a nude man whose only accessory was a camera. Police said the "naked photographer" would take pictures of the women's shocked expressions and keep them as souvenirs.

Now police believe they have their own picture of the naked photographer — his mug shot.

On Nov. 19, police arrested Stephen Linnen, 33, after he allegedly flashed a woman in a basement laundry room in a Columbus apartment building and snapped her picture. The woman said the naked man did not touch her and immediately ran away after taking her picture.

Police arrested Linnen, who wearing only a knit cap, sunglasses and sneakers, almost immediately and found a camera in a nearby trash bin. He was charged with indecency and assault. He was released from custody the next morning, but police from neighboring Gahanna, east of Columbus, arrested him in connection with a previous incident and charged him with gross sexual imposition and abduction.

Columbus police said they searched his apartment and found some pictures that prove he is the "naked photographer."

"We have found a large number of photographs, a large number of photographic materials, computer discs that we suspect may contain photos," Columbus police Detective David Pelphroy told the Lancaster Eagle Gazette. "We have now identified a victim out of a Gahanna incident in one of those photos."

Linnen is a lawyer who works for Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder's office. He is on leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation against him.

Elusive Parking Violator Nabbed

A L L E N T O W N, Pa. — A man wanted for at least 101 parking violations and who had eluded authorities for three years has finally run out of gas.

Police say Jeffrey McFetridge, 50, was arrested Nov. 30 after his car was pulled over in Bethlehem Township for an expired inspection sticker. Upon his arrest, police found McFetridge was driving with a suspended registration and license and a background check uncovered his résumé of violations, officials said.

In 1998, McFetridge served 90 days in prison and under house arrest for accumulating about $5,800 in fines for about 50 parking violations. McFetridge, police said, was still getting tickets while he was eluding authorities during the past three years.

Police say his fines total $10,000 in Allentown alone for violations such as double parking and expired meters.

McFetridge was being held on $10,000 bail at Lehigh County Prison.
