ABC News introduces '20/20 True Crime+' premium podcast subscription
The subscription features exclusive podcast access.
ABC News on Tuesday launched "20/20 True Crime+," a new premium true crime podcast subscription offering ad-free episodes, early access to new podcasts, exclusive bonus content and an expanded library of "20/20" true crime storytelling.
The subscription, now available on Apple Podcasts, also includes subscriber-only Q&As with Deborah Roberts, co-anchor of "20/20" and host of "20/20: The After Show," and an expanded back catalog of hundreds of hours of archived "20/20" audio episodes.
Two new "20/20" and ABC News Podcast Network series will launch alongside the new podcast subscription, and subscribers will receive exclusive early access.
One of the series, "What Happened to the McStays?" tells the story of a family that seemingly vanished from their Southern California home. An investigation led officials to believe the family had gone to Mexico, then led to the Mojave Desert years later and to an unlikely suspect.
"20/20 True Crime+" subscribers will get access to the first three episodes of "What Happened to the McStays?" on Tuesday. The series premieres for non-subscribers on Aug. 11.
"Burden of Proof: Luigi Mangione" is the second early-access subscriber series. The five-episode series follows Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The series discusses Thompson and Mangione's backgrounds, as well as how the incident sparked a heated national conversation over the American healthcare system. Mangione has pleaded not guilty.
The first episode drops ahead of Mangione's highly anticipated trial. Subscribers will gain access to the first episode of "Burden of Proof: Luigi Mangione" on Aug. 7, with the series premiering on Aug. 10 for non-subscribers.
"20/20 True Crime+" is available for $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year. Listeners can also subscribe to a seven-day trial on Apple Podcasts.
ABC News Podcast Network also features chart-topping series including "Bad Rap: The Case Against Diddy," "Bridge of Lies," "What Happened to Holly Bobo?" and "Devil in the Desert."
The most successful ABC Audio and "20/20" series ever, "Devil in the Desert," ranked No. 1 on Apple Podcasts' Top Shows Chart for more than three consecutive weeks.
ABC News' "20/20" broadcasts in-depth coverage of true-crime mysteries, investigative reports and high-profile human-interest stories. Hosted by Roberts and David Muir, it airs at 9 p.m. ET on Fridays on ABC.
