Ex-boyfriend of missing California mother turns himself in for murder, police say
The family says the mother was found dead at her ex-boyfriend's home.
FRESNO, Calif. -- An ex-boyfriend of a missing Fresno, California, mother is now in custody and accused of her murder.
It all started on August 4 when Tatyana McIntyre's ex-husband couldn't get in touch with her after being notified that her daughter wasn't picked up from school.
Her last known location was at a house which records show is owned by Jeffrey Vernon Michaels.
A search warrant was served at the home, and detectives found McIntyre's body with several lacerations.
McIntyre's car was found Tuesday night in an orchard.
Authorities say Michaels initially left Fresno before contacting police and turning himself in Thursday evening.
According to McIntyre's sister, she leaves behind seven children, including two with Michaels.
McIntyre's family has started a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses.
Michaels is now in the Fresno County Jail on a murder charge. His bail is set at $1 million.
Police Chief Mindy Casto said a motive is currently unknown.
