Trump says Iran strikes, megabill passage have been 'best 2 weeks'

Speaking at the Iowa rally, President Donald Trump said the recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, followed by the passage of the megabill, has been the "best two weeks."

"Has anybody ever had a better two weeks?" Trump asked the crowd.

Trump again emphasized the strikes led to "complete obliteration" of Iran's nuclear facilities, dismissing questions about the effectiveness of the strikes.

The B-2 pilots who carried out the strikes are set to visit the White House on Friday for the July 4 holiday.

Trump also recounted conversations he said he had with Iran leading up to Iranian counterstrikes on a U.S. air base in Qatar.

“They called me to tell me they have to take a shot at us," Trump said. "This was Iran. Very respectful. That means they respect us because we dropped 14 bombs. They said ‘We'd like to take 14 shots at USA.’ 'Go ahead,’ I understand,’” Trump said before explaining the facility was emptied out ahead of the counter strike.

“They were a little nervous about doing it," Trump said. "I want to tell you. Can you imagine they were nice enough -- this is Iran -- to call me and tell me."

Trump takes megabill victory lap during Iowa rally

Speaking at a rally in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday, President Donald Trump took a victory lap to celebrate the passage of the massive bill of tax and policy proposals.

“There could be no better birthday present for America than the phenomenal victory we achieved just hours ago when Congress passed the ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’ to Make America Great Again,” Trump said.

“This bill includes the largest tax cut in American history; the largest spending cut in American history; the largest border security investment in American history -- although I must tell you, if you saw last month, they had zero people coming through our borders.”

Trump noted that no Democrats voted for the legislation.

“With all of the things we did with the tax cuts and rebuilding our military, not one Democrat voted for us," Trump said. "And I think we use it in the campaign that's coming up -- the midterms, because we've got to beat them … All of the things that we've given and they wouldn't vote only because they hate Trump. But I hate them too.”

President Donald Trump signed two executive orders aboard Air Force One on Thursday evening.

One of the orders, titled "Making America Beautiful Again by Improving Our National Parks," outlines a policy aimed at the accessibility of America’s national parks. The EO suggests generating additional revenue by raising fees for foreign tourists.

"I just signed an executive order to raise entrance fees for foreign tourists while keeping prices low for Americans. The National Parks will be about America first," Trump recounted during his remarks in Des Moines, Iowa.

B-2s will fly over during bill signing, Trump says

The White House celebrations for the Fourth of July will include several flyovers, including one featuring B-2 bombers. The president confirmed that the flyover will occur at the same time he signs his tax and spending bill that was passed by the House on Thursday.

“So we're signing at about five o'clock, and at about five o'clock we're going to have B-2s and F-22s and F-35s flying right over the White House,” Trump said. “So we'll be signing with those beautiful planes flying right over our heads, alright?”

Trump invited the B-2 pilots and crews who bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities last week to celebrate the holiday in Washington. Officials said Wednesday no public ceremony is planned and the pilots' identities are not being disclosed for security reasons.
