Mom kills 2 children after shooting at husband, other woman at bar in murder-suicide: Police
The children have been identified as a 10-year-old boy and 18-month old girl.
A woman and her two children were found dead inside a Phoenix home in an apparent murder-suicide early Monday, after the woman fired shots at her husband and a woman with him at a bar, according to police.
The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Andrea Clarice Davis and the two children have been identified as a 10-year-old boy and an 18-month-old girl, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Investigators believe Davis shot and killed the two children before taking her own life. A handgun was recovered from the residence during the execution of a search warrant, Phoenix police said.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at a bar just after midnight to find a 36-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of her head, the Glendale Police Department said in a statement to ABC News.
A 39-year-old man told police that his wife arrived at the bar and began firing shots at him before fleeing the scene, Glendale police said.
The gunshot victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She is expected to survive, Glendale police said.
The man then began to receive text messages from his wife, identified as the suspect, "stating that she was going to harm their children," according to Glendale police.
The man told police his wife was with their children at a nearby residence, prompting a police response, Glendale police said.
The man then received a photo of one of the children bleeding, prompting police to enter the house. Officers found the woman and their two children dead from apparent gunshot wounds, Glendale police said.
"It is a very difficult incident to deal with today. No one wants to see harm caused to children," Phoenix Police Department Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez said.
Phoenix police do not have records of domestic violence reports at the residence, Fernandez said.
"Domestic violence has a deep and lasting impact on victims, families, and the broader community. The Phoenix Police Department encourages anyone experiencing domestic violence, or anyone who knows someone who may need help, to seek available resources. Support is available at the link below or by calling the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE," the Phoenix Police Department said in a statement.
