Skydiver slams into Virginia Tech scoreboard, dangles by parachute
The parachutist was stuck in the scoreboard for nearly 15 minutes.
A skydiver performing during a football game at Virginia Tech University crashed into the stadium's scoreboard and was left dangling high by his parachute Saturday.
The crowd at the spring football game at Lane Stadium watched in alarm as the unidentified performer descended towards the big screen while carrying an American flag during the pre-game ceremony.
"One of three parachutists was blown off course and got stuck on our stadium scoreboard," Virginia Tech said in a statement about the incident.
The Blacksburg Fire Department was called in, and crews brought a crane ladder to get the stuck parachutist to safety within 15 minutes, the school's statement said.
"He was checked by medical personnel on site and was treated and released," the school said.
There were no other reported injuries during the incident.
