SAN FRANCISCO -- A person was missing and 17 others were rescued Tuesday after a fire on a pontoon boat off the coast of San Francisco, authorities said.

San Francisco Fire Lt. Mariano Elias said one of the 17 removed from the water was receiving CPR and one person was missing.

Elias said the vessel, described as a “ponton pleasure boat,” was about 600 yards (about 650 meters) from Alcatraz Island when the fire started.
