Golden Globes 2026 updates: Highlights of the night's biggest moments, winners and style

Rose Byrne won the award for best performance by a female actor in a motion picture (musical or comedy) for her role in "If I Had Legs I'd Kick You"

Other nominees in the category included Cynthia Erivo ("Wicked: For Good"), Kate Hudson ("Song Sung Blue"), Chase Infiniti ("One Battle After Another"), Amanda Seyfried ("The Testament of Ann Lee") and Emma Stone ("Bugonia").

Byrne recognized the film's creators and shared that they "shot this movie in 25 days."

"This is like a tiny film so this is a huge thing to be up here," she said.

She also called out her family, saying, "My brother is my date. Thanks, George! And thanks to my mom and dad who bought Paramount+ so they could watch the Golden Globes from Sydney."

She added, “And I want to thank my husband, Bobby Cannavale, who couldn't be here because we are getting a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey.”

Some viewers at home may have noticed during the Golden Globes that the winner for best original score wasn't announced.

Instead of having the winner revealed during the live telecast, it was announced during a commercial break and did not make it into the live show.

The award went to Ludwig Göransson for "Sinners" and the moment was shared on the Golden Globes' official social media pages.

In his acceptance speech, the composer acknowledged "Sinners" director Ryan Coogler for writing an "incredible movie" about a musician. He also thanked the film's producers, his music partner and Raphael Saadiq who penned the song, "I Lied to You."

Also nominated for best score were Hans Zimmer for "F1," Alexandre Desplat for "Frankenstein," Jonny Greenwood for "One Battle After Another," Kangding Ray for "Sirāt" and Max Richter for "Hamnet."

Paul Thomas Anderson won the Golden Globe for best screenplay for "One Battle After Another."

"Writers, we are magpies. We steal all the bits and pieces that everybody says as best we can," he said in his acceptance speech.

He added, "So I share this with everybody I magpie'd off of."

Other nominees in the category were Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie ("Marty Supreme"); Ryan Coogler ("Sinners"); Jafar Panahi ("It Was Just An Accident"); Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier ("Sentimental Value"); and Chloé Zhao and Maggie O'Farrell ("Hamnet").

This moment belongs to "KPop Demon Hunters."

The Golden Globe for best original song went to "Golden," the Netflix film's chart-topping hit song.

The song is by Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, Park Hong Jun, Kim Eun-jae/EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick.

Other songs that were nominated included "Dream as One" from "Avatar: Fire and Ash," "I Lied to You" from "Sinners," "No Place Like Home" from "Wicked: For Good," "The Girl in the Bubble" from "Wicked: For Good" and "Train Dreams" from "Train Dreams."

In an acceptance speech, an emotional EJAE said, "When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fill one dream, to become a K-pop idol, and I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn't good enough, and so I leaned on songs and music to get through it. So now I am here as a singer and a songwriter."

She added, "It's a dream come true to be part of a song that is helping other girls, other boys, and everyone from all ages to get through their hardships and to accept themselves."
