Oscars 2026 recap: The biggest winners and best moments

"Sinners" star Miles Caton, who plays Samuel "Sammie" Moore in the Ryan Coogler-directed horror film, brought the movie to life when he took the stage to perform the film's song "I Lied To You," which is nominated for best original song.

R&B icon Raphael Saadiq, who co-wrote the blues track with composer Ludwig Göransson, joined Caton onstage, along with ballet dancer Misty Copeland, Eric Gales, Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, Bobby Rush, Shaboozey and Alice Smith.

"The Girl Who Cried Pearls" won the Academy Award for best animated short film.

Other nominees in the category were "Butterfly," "Forevergreen," "Retirement Plan" and "The Three Sisters."

"KPop Demon Hunters" won the Oscar for best animated feature film.

Other nominees in the category included "Arco," "Elio," "Little Amélie or the Character of Rain" and "Zootopia 2."

Amy Madigan won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her work in "Weapons."

"This is great!" she said as she accepted the Oscar.

Madigan ended her list of thank-yous by shouting out her husband, Ed Harris. The couple has been married for more than four decades.

"The most important is my beloved Ed, who's been with me forever ... and none of this would mean anything if he wasn't by my side," she said, as the crowd applauded. "So, thank you very much. I'm very overwhelmed."

Other nominees in the category were Elle Fanning ("Sentimental Value"), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas ("Sentimental Value"), Wunmi Mosaku ("Sinners") and Teyana Taylor ("One Battle After Another").
