Viral Reddit post helps woman find airport 'missed connection'
Woman reconnects with airport worker after viral Reddit post.
A missed connection at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport turned into an in-person meeting after a woman's Reddit post asking for help finding an airport maintenance worker captured the internet's attention.
Grace Rombach told ABC News she was rushing to board a flight to Florida when she noticed a maintenance worker standing near her seat. She smiled at him and the two made eye contact, but before she had the chance to introduce herself, he walked away.
"I noticed like a couple of maintenance people kind of got on and they were walking to the back of the plane and I looked up and I saw a very handsome man," Rombach said. "So I was going to say something to him. He was standing right next to me. I kind of smiled. We made eye contact and then he walked right past me."
Not ready to let the moment slip away, Rombach posted a "Missed Connection" message on Reddit addressed to the "dark-haired maintenance guy" she had seen at the airport, hoping someone would help the post reach him.

"I thought it was going to be like every other reddit post improvement and have like 5 likes," she said.
Instead, the post quickly went viral. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport also helped spread the message, and before long, Rombach received a message from the man she had been searching for.

"I had a message from the guy -- his name is Simon -- and he said you called," Rombach said.
When Rombach returned to Cleveland over the weekend, the pair met in person for the first time.
Looking back, Rombach said she was grateful for the support she received from strangers who rallied behind her search.
"It was really sweet to see kind of the city of Cleveland come together to help me find a man," she said.
