State Department tells Americans worldwide to 'exercise increased caution'

President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israel strikes attack targeting military and government sites, officials said.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was among those killed in Tehran on the first day of strikes and his son Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen to succeed him. Iran is responding with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, regional U.S. bases and multiple Gulf nations. Iran is also attempting to block some shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel is also intensifying its long-running strike campaign against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.

Qatar orders Iranian Embassy officials out of the country

Qatar has ordered Iranian Embassy officials to leave the country within 24 hours due to Iran's repeated targeting of its territory, the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday.

"The Ministry clarified that this decision comes in the wake of repeated Iranian targeting and treacherous aggression that targeted the State of Qatar, violated its sovereignty and security, in flagrant violation of the principles of international law, UN Security Council Resolution No. (2817), and the rules of good neighborliness," the Qatari Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The Ministry emphasized that the continuation of the Iranian side in this hostile approach will be met with the State of Qatar taking additional measures to ensure the protection of its sovereignty, security, and national interests," the ministry said.

Israel says its striking northern Iran

Israel began striking "northern Iran" for the first time since the war started, the Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday.

"A short while ago, the Israeli Air Force, acting on navy and IDF intelligence, began striking targets in northern Iran for the first time during Operation Roaring Lion," the IDF said in a statement.

Iran hits world's largest liquefied natural gas terminal in Qatar, interior ministry says

Iran has hit the world’s largest LNG export terminal in Qatar, according to the Qatari interior ministry.

“Civil defence is dealing with a fire in the Ras Laffan area following an Iranian targeting,” the ministry said in a post on X.

According to the Financial Times, about a fifth of the world’s liquefied natural gas is ordinarily shipped from Ras Laffan. International companies including, ExxonMobil, Shell and TotalEnergies are investors in the plant.

Qatar Energy, the state-owned oil and gas company, confirmed the Ras Laffan area has been hit by multiple missile attacks. The strikes have caused fires and “extensive damage," Qatar Energy said.

No casualties are reported at this time, according to Qatar Energy.

This attack follows Iran’s vow to retaliate against Gulf countries energy facilities after Israel attacked its largest gas field Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia says it intercepted 4 missiles over Riyadh

Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry said it intercepted four Iranian ballistic missiles launched toward Riyadh, and that debris from the interception fell "in scattered areas of the capital."

The ministry says there was no damage or injuries detected so far.
