Glen Hansard performed as a busker in Dublin before founding the rock band The Frames in 1991.
The band released seven studio albums. Hansard and Marketa Irglova formed the band The Swell
Season in 2006. They co-starred in the 2007 movie “Once,” in which they sang their Oscar-winning
hit song “Falling Slowly.” “Once” went on to become a Broadway show, winning eight Tony Awards
in 2012, including Best Musical. In 2013, the “Once” Broadway cast album won a Grammy Award.
The Swell Season released its last album “Forward,” in July, 2025. Hansard’s last solo album was
released in June, 2026.
