HOUSTON -- Jonathan Bond finished with four saves to post his sixth clean sheet in his last seven starts and help the Houston Dynamo earn a scoreless draw with the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.
Angus Gunn was never tested in earning his first clean sheet after surrendering 18 goals in his first six starts for San Jose (10-8-4).
Bond had a 485-minute scoreless streak in a run of five straight shutouts for Houston (12-7-3) come to an end his last time out in a 2-1 road loss to St. Louis City that ended a nine-match unbeaten streak.
Midfielder Eduard Löwen started in his first match with San Jose after being acquired from St. Louis City on Wednesday. Löwen has three goals and three assists this season.
San Jose began the day in fourth place in the Western Conference after coming off a 5-1 home loss to Minnesota United and failed to gain ground on second-place Houston.
The Dynamo lead the all-time series with the Earthquakes 19-11-6, including a 13-3-2 record at home.
The Earthquakes finished 0-4-1 in August and are 0-6-1 since a 3-1 road win over the Portland Timbers to close out July.
Dynamo defender Luccas Halter served a one-match suspension for yellow-card accumulation.
San Jose: At Toronto FC on Saturday.
