Turpin siblings case: ChildNet statement on care
ChildNet provided foster care services for several of the Turpin children.
Statement to ABC News on ChildNet's Care of the Turpin Children
January 29, 2026 - First and foremost, our hearts remain with the Turpin children. What they endured early in their lives is heartbreaking, and no child should ever experience that level of trauma. We are deeply sorry for the pain they suffered, and we sincerely hope they continue to heal, thrive, and find peace.
ChildNet's role in these children's lives began after their rescue from an unimaginably abusive biological home. At Riverside County's request, ChildNet was asked to provide foster care services because of our long-standing reputation for high-quality, trauma-informed care. From the outset, the children were supported by some of our most experienced clinicians and social workers. They were surrounded by a multidisciplinary team that included county staff, attorneys, educators, and court-appointed advocates.
During the time the children were in ChildNet's foster care program, there were no complaints or allegations of abuse or neglect regarding their foster placement. The children received extensive services, participated in regular multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, and made meaningful progress, academically, emotionally, and socially. All oversight, reviews, and approvals were conducted in coordination with Riverside County and the State of California, which ultimately approved the adoption.
The allegations raised in this matter came after the children were no longer in ChildNet's care and after the foster care case had been closed. ChildNet had no oversight authority following the adoption and has no knowledge of what occurred thereafter. It is essential to be clear: there were no substantiated concerns during the period when ChildNet was responsible for the children's care.
The civil case was resolved without trial. That decision was made collectively by the involved parties and their insurers, with careful consideration of the children's well-being. Prolonged litigation would have required deep personal testimony and would have risked retraumatizing young people who had already endured more than any child should. Protecting them from further harm was paramount.
For over 55 years, ChildNet has always acted in good faith, transparently, and in full compliance with state and county regulations. We stand by the professionalism and integrity of our staff and the care provided while the children were entrusted to us.
While confidentiality laws limit what we can say publicly, we can clearly and unequivocally state this: ChildNet helped these children thrive. Our mission has always been, and remains, to help vulnerable children heal, grow, and succeed. That mission guided every decision in this case and continues to guide our work today.
We wish the Turpin children nothing but safety, stability, and a future filled with opportunity.
