Woman accused of double murder found, arrested after spending weeks on the run
She was arrested in North Carolina weeks after the murders.
A woman accused of killing two Virginia Department of Transportation contractors in July has been found and arrested in North Carolina after spending weeks on the run, according to Virginia State Police.
Dennikia Rachelle Boyce, 37, was found and arrested Thursday morning in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, by the U.S. Marshals Service on a charge of flight to avoid prosecution, according to VSP.
Boyce is also wanted in Virginia on two counts of second-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Rai'Shon Eugene Delarge, 30, and Philip Avery Wilson, 34, according to the VSP.
"Virginia State Police are working with authorities to extradite Boyce to Virginia to face those charges. The investigation remains ongoing," VSP said in a statement to ABC News.
Surveillance cameras in North Carolina captured Boyce just hours after the shooting, according to federal court records.
A reward of up to $10,000 was being offered by the U.S. Marshals for information leading to Boyce's arrest.
Virginia State Police found both men had been shot at a VDOT equipment yard while investigating a report of a shooting on July 24, according to the Marshals Service.
Delarge was pronounced dead at the scene. Wilson died later at a local hospital, according to the Marshals Service.
Boyce was identified as a suspect by Virginia State Police and the shooting was described as a case of domestic violence, the Marshals Service said.
Boyce fled the scene after the shooting, according to the Marshals Service.
Warrants were obtained for Boyce for two counts of second-degree murder on July 24, according to court documents.
Boyce was seen on surveillance footage at a Walmart in North Carolina after the shooting on July 24, according to court documents.
On July 26, she was seen at a Sunoco in North Carolina, according to court documents.
On July 28, a vehicle registered to Boyce was found behind a church by North Carolina's Northampton County Sheriff's Office, according to court documents.
